Empowering Women of Nepal

The 50th batch of the Basic Female Trekking Guide Training (FTGT) at Empowering Women of Nepal (EWN) has been successfully completed, marking a proud and historic milestone in our journey of empowering women in Nepal’s tourism sector.

This landmark training began on January 25, 2026 in Pokhara, with the gracious presence of distinguished guests including Mr. Maniraj Lamichhane, Senior Director and Chief of the Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province Office; Mr. Darmaraj Dawadi, National Project Manager of STP/NTB/UNDP; Mr. Krishna Prasad Acharya, President of TAAN Gandaki; Ms. Lucky Karki Chhetri, Founder and Executive Director of EWN; and Ms. Dicky Karki, President of EWN.

Over the past 25 years, EWN has proudly completed 49 batches of Female Trekking Guide Training, and this 50th milestone batch was jointly organized in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and the UNDP Sustainable Tourism Project.

The participants of this special batch came from the beautiful mountain regions of 12 participants from Api, 9 participants from Kanchenjunga, and 4 participants from Manaslu Himal, bringing with them the strength, resilience, and spirit of their communities. Throughout the training, the trainees demonstrated remarkable dedication and enthusiasm.

As part of their practical learning, the trainees participated in field visits and hands-on sessions, where they delivered impressive presentations on assigned topics, showcasing their knowledge, teamwork, and growing confidence as future trekking guides.

This successful completion reflects the commitment of EWN to create inclusive opportunities for women in adventure tourism and to build a new generation of skilled female trekking guides in Nepal.
